Positions in Travel

Travel Consultant

As a Travel Consultant, you’ll turn a holiday idea into a plan customers get excited about.

Some people arrive with a destination, dates and a budget. Others just know they need a break. You’ll ask the right questions and build their perfect holiday package; flights, hotels, board basis, transfers, luggage and travel insurance.

You’ll keep up with travel updates, offers, and all the bits that matter when it’s time to travel so they can focus on looking forward to it.

And when they come back having had the time of their life, it’s because you were part of making it happen.

Assistant Manager

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll work alongside the Branch Manager to keep everything running smoothly.

You’ll jump in when it’s busy, support the team on the shop floor, and take the lead when a booking needs extra care.

Customers will lean on you for ideas. You’ll help shape their trip, using your expert knowledge to turn a good holiday into a dream holiday.

And you’ll share your know-how with the team too, helping them grow in confidence with every booking.

Branch Manager

As a Branch Manager, you’ll lead from the front, helping your team feel confident, capable, and excited to sell travel.

You’ll coach people through tricky bookings, celebrate the wins, and step in to support when it’s busy.

You’ll also keep an eye on how the branch is performing. What’s booking well, what customers are asking for and where you can do things smarter. Then you’ll turn that insight into action with fresh ideas, focused goals, and a plan that helps the team grow sales without losing that personal touch.

When your branch is thriving, it’s because you’ve built a team that believes in what they do. Your customers will feel it the moment they walk in.

Paul’s story…

Paul joined Lincolnshire Co-op in 2002 as an NVQ Level 2 Apprentice in the Spalding travel branch, focused on learning what it really takes to be a travel agent. He completed his NVQ, gained a travel-specific ABAC qualification, then progressed to NVQ Level 3 in Travel and Tourism, building his skills through masterclasses and in-house training.

He later became Branch Manager at Sleaford, a role he held for eight years, before moving up to Area Manager in 2015. He went on to oversee six travel branches, describing the work as “really enjoyable” with “no two days the same”.

Now, more than 20 years on, Paul has stepped into an even bigger challenge as a Regional Manager, with wider scope and responsibility for how the Travel business operates overall. He’s also successfully completed his Level 5 Operations Manager apprenticeship and encourages his team to keep learning too.
