About the role:

The Communications team works to reach our members, customers, local community stakeholders and colleagues. The team builds brand awareness, engagement and interaction as well as promoting our businesses and initiatives.

We are now looking for a Communications Co-ordinator to join the team. The role involves raising Lincolnshire Co-op’s profile in the local media and work across in-house colleague communications including a bi-monthly magazine and our colleague app. So, if you love the written word - whether it’s a magazine article, news story or a brilliantly crafted tweet – we want to hear from you!

You’ll carry out interviews, arrange photos and write stories for the Lincolnshire Co-op members’ magazine, which goes out to over 90,000 people twice a year. You’ll also help produce fun and engaging content for our social media accounts, so video and photography skills would be an advantage.

Writing will be your passion and you’ll be able to quickly produce engaging, accurate and appropriate wording for lots of different mediums. You’ll be creative, full of energy, good with people and enjoy a wide range of communications channels, both professionally and personally.

The role is based at our Head Office in central Lincoln, however this is a hybrid working opportunity which will be discussed in more detail at interview.

About You

We need someone who has a passion for communications and is a consumer of a range of channels both professionally and personally. You'll be a skilled writer who is able to quickly produce accurate copy for different channels including lifestyle, social media, web and internal communications. You'll also be comfortable with technology, and we'd love to hear from people who have experience of video and photography. But overall, you'll be creative, full of ideas and be prepared to share these with the team.

Other things we'll be looking for from you are as follows:

  • You'll hold a degree-level qualification in a relevant subject or demonstrate relevant experience.
  • You'll have a full working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You'll be organised with an ability to prioritise your workload and work collaboratively across a number of other teams across the Society.
Regular travel is required as part of this role, so to be considered you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle which can be insured for business use. From time to time, you will also be required to work some evenings and weekends to attend Society functions or to manage our social media channels out of hours, so a flexible approach to work will be needed.

Benefits:

In addition to working for a successful co-operative business, we offer our colleagues fantastic benefits, including:

  • 30 days annual leave (including bank holidays) (pro-rata)
  • Pension scheme (with up to 12% employer contributions)
  • Generous colleague discount rates across our family of businesses
  • Annual discretionary colleague bonuses to reward you for your hard work
  • Free tea and coffee provisions for all colleagues during rest breaks at work
  • On call allowance for managing our social media channels out of hours.

We are an “Investors in People - Platinum” employer, meaning that we have been recognised as one of the country’s top employers, offering progression opportunities to all our colleagues. As your confidence grows, you’ll have the opportunity to build the skills necessary to further progress your career and help to open up future opportunities. Whether you’re thinking of a future with us or looking to develop your skills with a community-focused business, we’ll work together with you to shape your career for the better.
