About the role:

Pay roll that supports people

What if your next role helped make sure colleagues across Lincolnshire Co-op feel confident, supported and paid accurately?

Behind every payslip is a team, a system and a level of detail that really matters.

We’re looking for a Payroll Systems Analyst on a fixed term basis to help keep our payroll systems running smoothly, accurately and efficiently for colleagues across our Society.

This is an opportunity to bring together payroll knowledge, systems thinking and a careful eye for detail, working within our Payroll and Pensions team to support the processes that colleagues rely on every day.

Because payroll isn’t just about numbers.
It’s about trust.

The systems are already here. We need someone to make them work even better

Many people only see the end result of payroll.

The payment arriving on time. The information being right. The confidence that everything has been handled properly.

What sits behind that is careful analysis, accurate data, reliable systems and people who understand how important the detail is.

As Payroll Systems Analyst, you’ll help support and improve the iTrent payroll and rostering systems that enable payroll to be delivered accurately across a large and complex workforce.

Leading accuracy through systems and data

Of course, payroll knowledge is part of the role.

Your understanding of payroll processes will help you spot issues, support colleagues and make sure information is accurate and compliant.

But that’s only part of the picture.

You’ll also help maintain and develop our payroll and rostering systems, supporting testing, reporting, data integrity and system improvements that make a real difference to how the team works.

  • Support and develop iTrent payroll and rostering systems, ensuring updates are tested and implemented smoothly
  • Lead on system improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Carry out UAT testing, analysing results and supporting system change processes
  • Produce and maintain Business Objects reports to support payroll validation and decision-making
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies and provide clear, practical solutions
  • Work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and external partners to keep activity aligned
  • Support and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and building confidence across the team
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, GDPR and data protection requirements

There will be opportunities to influence how payroll activity is planned, delivered and improved. One day, you could be testing a system update; the next, building a report, supporting a colleague with a complex query or helping the team prepare for a key payroll deadline.

  • About You

The person who keeps payroll moving

This role requires extensive experience managing large, complex payrolls, with strong end-to-end knowledge covering statutory payments, absence, RTI, pensions, and new starters. You’ll be highly proficient in payroll systems, with hands-on experience of iTrent (including rostering) and a solid track record of working with Business Objects reporting to support payroll and finance operations.

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and a proactive, analytical mindset, with experience supporting payroll system upgrades or implementations, including UAT testing.

    You will demonstrate:

    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
    • Confidence working with data, reports, and payroll system testing
    • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
    • A collaborative and approachable style, with experience mentoring or supporting colleagues
    • A thorough understanding of GDPR, data protection, and payroll legislation
    • Exceptional attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, compliant results

You’ll be someone who thinks practically, works methodically, and can translate complex system and payroll data into clear, actionable outcomes.

    What you'll get in return

Alongside the opportunity to shape how payroll systems and processes support colleagues across Lincolnshire Co-op, you’ll receive:

    • 30 days annual leave (pro rata), including bank holidays.
    • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions.
    • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
    • Access to a wide range of professional development opportunities.
    • The chance to work alongside colleagues who care about getting things right for the people they support.

We’re also proud to be an Investors in People Platinum employer, recognising our commitment to helping colleagues learn, develop and build rewarding careers.

Ready to make every detail count?

If you’re excited by the opportunity to support accurate payroll, improve systems and help colleagues feel confident in the processes they rely on, we’d love to hear from you.
