About the role:

More than post – we're helping keep your community connected

What if your next role gave you the opportunity to play a vital role behind the scenes in a service your local community depends on every day?

At Lincolnshire Co-op, our Post Offices are much more than service counters.

They're trusted community hubs that help people stay connected, send important items, access essential services and support local businesses. Behind every successful delivery is an efficient sorting operation, and that's where our Sorting Office Supervisors make a real difference.

As a Sorting Office Supervisor, you'll lead the day-to-day sorting and coordination of Royal Mail post, ensuring mail is processed accurately, efficiently and delivered on time. You'll help maintain the high standards our customers expect while supporting colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of the wider Post Office operation.

A role where organisation makes a difference

No two days in the sorting office are ever quite the same.

One day you might be coordinating workflows to ensure a high volume of mail is processed on schedule, while the next you could be supporting postal workers, resolving operational issues or helping implement improvements that make the service even more efficient.

You'll play a key leadership role within the operation, ensuring customers and businesses receive the reliable postal service they depend on, while supporting a positive and collaborative working environment for your team.

What you'll be doing

As a Sorting Office Supervisor, you'll:

  • Supervise and manage the sorting of Royal Mail post to ensure accurate and efficient processing
  • Coordinate daily workflows and prioritise tasks to ensure mail is processed and delivered on time
  • Support, guide and communicate effectively with colleagues across the Post Office operation
  • Monitor operational performance and service standards, taking action where required
  • Handle enquiries professionally through telephone, email and other communication channels
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Royal Mail services, procedures and operational requirements
  • Investigate and report operational issues, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Ensure the sorting office remains safe, organised and compliant with Health & Safety standards
  • Support local community initiatives and represent Lincolnshire Co-op positively within the local area
  • Take ownership of compliance, mandatory training and all relevant operational procedures and legislation.

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities effectively
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work accurately in a fast-paced operational environment
  • A positive, confident and adaptable approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience delivering high standards of customer service
  • A willingness to learn and keep knowledge up to date with changing services and procedures
  • Previous Post Office, mail handling, logistics or similar operational experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided

  • Experience in a supervisory, operational, logistics, retail or similar environment

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

All colleagues working within our Post Office are required to successfully complete a P250 clearance check before joining the team.

The difference you'll make

Our Post Offices play an important role in keeping people, businesses and communities connected.

As a Sorting Office Supervisor, you'll help ensure mail is processed accurately, deliveries are completed efficiently and operational standards remain high. Your leadership and organisation will help support reliable services that local communities depend on every day.

  • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions
