About the role:

Our Support Services are always on hand to offer advice and guidance to colleagues across our business. Our People team are part of this, working with colleagues every day to strengthen working relationships and provide clear policies and procedures that continually support the achievement of our purpose and approach.

As a Policy and Compliance Advisor, you will lead the review, development and implementation of Society-wide people policies, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with THRIVE values and Purpose Beyond Profit. You will help strengthen governance by embedding consistent policy interpretation, audit readiness and risk-based compliance controls across all business areas, while supporting managers and the People Team with clear and practical guidance that improves colleague experience and reduces organisational risk.

Working with colleagues across the Society and external partners such as trade unions and regulatory bodies, you will develop and maintain people policies and procedures, plan structured review cycles, support policy training, conduct internal HR audits and monitor high-risk compliance areas such as right to work, visas, DBS checks and colleague records. You will also provide expert advice on complex policy matters, keep policies up to date with employment law and best practice, and maintain the colleague handbook and policy library to ensure clarity and accessibility.

INDMP

About You

You will hold a CIPD qualification with up-to-date knowledge of employment law and employee relations best practice, along with experience developing and implementing HR policies within a complex, multi-site organisation. You will be confident researching and interpreting legislation, translating complex requirements into clear and practical guidance, and building strong relationships with managers, colleagues, trade unions and external partners.

You will bring excellent written communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You will have experience supporting or representing organisations in audits of people policies and procedures, understand GDPR and confidentiality requirements, and demonstrate integrity, discretion and sound judgement in your work. You will also work collaboratively across the People Team and wider Society, with a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
