Positions in Food Retail

Customer Services Assistant

As a customer services assistant, you’re the person customers see first.

You’ll welcome people into store, help them find what they need, and serve them at the till with a friendly smile. You’ll also keep the shelves looking great, make sure the shop feels tidy and easy to browse, and make every checkout quick and easy.

And when someone’s ready to join as a member, you’ll be there to explain what it means and help them sign up.

Every day brings something different, but the best part stays the same; you're making life a little easier for the people who pop through the doors.

Store Manager

As store manager, you'll set the standard. Not just by telling people what 'good' looks like, but by showing it on the shop floor.

When it's busy, you'll keep things calm. When someone's learning, you'll teach them. When the team's doing well, you'll make sure they know it.

You'll build confidence through training, support and honest feedback, helping people grow into their best selves.

Beyond the shop floor, you'll also manage performance, control costs, and make sure we're hitting targets. You'll keep standards high from compliance and safety to stock integrity and responsible retailing.

And you'll look to the future too. Spotting opportunities, reducing waste, improving sustainability, and making sure the store plays its part in the wider community. All while ensuring customers leave feeling looked after.

Team Leader

As a Team Leader, you set the tone on shift. The way you welcome customers, support colleagues, and keep things running smoothly will inspire your team, even on the busy days.

You’ll lead by example on the shop floor, setting the pace, and giving your colleagues the encouragement to share ideas and get stuck in.

Working closely with the Store Manager, you’ll help deliver great customer service and keep the store on track with its day-to-day goals. You’ll also make sure everyone feels backed, valued, and ready for whatever the day brings.

Why choose us

Doing good on your doorstep

With stores across our local area, you can work closer to home and still have an impact.

When you’re part of a local store team, you don’t just serve customers. They’re your neighbours. You get to know them. You notice the regulars. You help someone with their shopping. You point a parent to what they need when they’re in a rush. These small moments make a real difference for people who live near you.

And being nearby helps you, too. It means the school run is doable. You can check in on a relative. You can be home sooner, with more time for the things and people that matter.

It’s local work, with local pride, and you at the heart of it.

Tom's story...

Tom didn't have it all mapped out. After college, he spent a year unemployed and unsure of what came next. Then a placement opportunity at Lincolnshire Co-op changed everything. He loved the pace, the people, and the feeling of being part of something.

He started as a Customer Service Assistant in 2013. He's built his confidence step by step, taking on new challenges, and today he is a Store Manager.
