About the role:

Finance that helps our communities grow

What if your next role helped turn numbers into insight that supports decisions across Food and Post Office?

Behind every trading result is careful analysis, strong financial control and a clear understanding of what the figures are telling us.

We’re looking for a Management Accountant to prepare and deliver accurate periodic management accounts for our Food, Fuel and Post Office trading areas.

This is an opportunity to bring together finance knowledge, commercial curiosity and a careful eye for detail, working within our Management Accounts team to support the information our colleagues rely on.

Because management accounts aren’t just about reporting performance.

They’re about helping people make informed decisions with confidence.

The numbers are already there. We need someone to help bring the story behind them to life

Many people see the end result of strong financial reporting.

The right information available on time. The confidence that performance is understood. The ability to act on insight when it matters.

What sits behind that is accurate journals, complete reconciliations, clear variance analysis and people who understand how important financial control is.

As Management Accountant, you’ll support the Senior Management Accountant by producing high-quality financial information and insight for key trading areas across Lincolnshire Co-op.

Leading accuracy through insight and control

Of course, accounting knowledge is part of the role.

Your understanding of management accounts, ledgers and period-end processes will help ensure information is accurate, complete and useful.

But that’s only part of the picture.

You’ll also help explain movements in revenue, costs and margins, maintain strong controls and work closely with colleagues to support effective review and decision-making.

  • Prepare periodic management accounts for Food, Fuel and Post Office trading areas
  • Produce clear variance analysis and insight to explain movements against forecast
  • Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments and reclassifications
  • Maintain accurate, timely and audit-ready balance sheet reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items, escalating risks where appropriate
  • Support financial control, compliance, year-end activity and external audit processes
  • Work closely with Finance, trading area colleagues and wider teams across the Society

There will be opportunities to make a real difference to how financial information is prepared, understood and used. One day, you could be reviewing margins; the next, investigating a reconciling item, preparing schedules for audit or helping colleagues understand what the numbers mean.

About You

Someone who sees the story behind the numbers

This is a role where accuracy, organisation and confidence working with financial information are essential.

You’ll be AAT Level 3 qualified, or bring equivalent experience, with previous experience in an accounting or finance role and a commitment to continuing professional development.

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence using financial systems and processes
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, even under pressure
  • The ability to prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to build effective relationships
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and professional approach, with integrity when handling sensitive information

We’re looking for someone who can work methodically, explain financial information clearly and take pride in getting the detail right.

Benefits that balance the books

Alongside the opportunity to turn data into decisions, bring clarity to the numbers and help our trading areas perform at their best, you’ll receive a benefits package that adds up nicely too:

  • 30 days annual leave (pro rata), including bank holidays.
  • A pension scheme with up to 12% employer contributions.
  • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
  • Access to a wide range of professional development opportunities.

We’re also proud to be an Investors in People Platinum employer, recognising our commitment to helping colleagues learn, develop and build rewarding careers.

Ready to make every figure count?

If you’re excited by the opportunity to prepare accurate management accounts, strengthen financial control and help colleagues make informed decisions, we’d love to hear from you.
