  • About the role:

  • The people who keep things moving

What if your next role helped colleagues get the support they need, whenever they need it?

Behind every successful day at Lincolnshire Co-op are people making sure things work as they should.

When something goes wrong, when a question needs answering or when support is needed, our Service Desk is there to help.

We're looking for a Service Desk Operative to join our helpful, reliable and enthusiastic team, acting as a central point of contact for colleagues and suppliers across all areas of our business.

You'll be the person on the other end of the phone, email or support portal helping turn problems into solutions.

Because great service isn't just about fixing an issue.

It's about being there when people need you.

    Every request matters

For the colleague contacting us, their issue might be one of many things happening across the business.

    For them, it's important.

That's why our Service Desk is focused on listening, understanding what's needed and making sure every request gets to the right place.

You'll help log, triage and progress support cases, keeping colleagues updated and working with specialist teams when further support is needed.

No two days will be the same.

One moment you could be helping resolve a straightforward support request. The next, you could be coordinating several teams to find a solution to a more complex issue.

    Solving problems through great service

You don't need to know everything on day one.

What matters is your ability to listen, stay calm, ask the right questions and find a way forward.

    You'll:

    • Respond to support requests through phone, email and our online portal.
    • Log, triage and progress cases through to resolution, working within agreed service levels.
    • Monitor ongoing and complex cases, coordinating the right teams to help reach an effective resolution.
    • Handle urgent or sensitive calls professionally and with discretion.
    • Keep accurate case records and provide clear information during shift handovers.
    • Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements to processes, guidance and knowledge resources.
    • Support project rollouts, testing and changes to processes or systems where required.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues and specialist teams across the organisation.
    • Help ensure colleagues receive a consistent, helpful and reliable service.

Our Service Desk operates 24/7, so you'll be part of a team that provides support whenever it's needed.

This includes working a shift rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays, with some shifts running from 10pm to 6am. A shift premium is paid for eligible overnight hours.

Due to the overnight working required, applicants must be 18 or over.

  • About You

  • Someone people can rely on

We're looking for an honest, reliable and trustworthy people person who enjoys helping others and finding solutions.

You don't need previous Service Desk experience. If you've worked in customer service, a contact centre or another role where you've supported people, that's great — but it's not essential.

We'll provide the training you need to build your knowledge and confidence.

What matters most is how you approach people and problems.

    You'll demonstrate:

    • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain information clearly.
    • A calm and professional approach, particularly when dealing with urgent or sensitive situations.
    • Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to managing different requests.
    • The ability to prioritise your workload and work effectively within agreed deadlines.
    • Confidence working independently and using your initiative, while also being part of a close-knit team.
    • Confidence using digital tools and the enthusiasm to learn new systems and processes.
    • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
    • Flexibility and willingness to work across our 24/7 shift operation, including overnight, weekend and bank holiday shifts.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who genuinely enjoys helping people.

Someone who listens, takes ownership and doesn't give up until they've helped find a way forward.

     What you'll get in return

Alongside the opportunity to build your customer service and technical support skills, you'll become part of a team that's there for colleagues across the whole of Lincolnshire Co-op.

    You'll receive:

    • 30 days' annual leave, including bank holidays, pro rata.
    • A pension scheme offering up to 12% employer contributions.
    • Generous colleague discounts across our family of businesses.
    • An annual discretionary colleague bonus recognising your hard work.
    • Free tea and coffee during rest breaks.
    • Working schedules provided in advance, helping you plan around your shifts.
    • Ongoing training and development to help you build your knowledge and confidence.
    • Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and progress your career.

We're committed to helping our colleagues develop.

As you grow your knowledge of our systems, processes and business, you'll have opportunities to take on more responsibility and continue developing your career with us.

To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need to work towards and achieve the SIA licence in CCTV monitoring which would be fully funded by the Society, if not already held. The terms of this will be discussed with you in more detail at the interview stage.

Ready to be the person people can rely on?

If you're someone who enjoys helping others, stays calm when things get busy and wants to build a career where every day brings something different, we'd love to hear from you.

Join our Service Desk team and help make sure colleagues have the support they need to keep Lincolnshire Co-op moving.

Because when people need help, we're there.
